Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Jefferson police department:
Thursday, March 30: At 6:15 pm Natalie Payan came to the LEC to report her 1999 Chevy Prism had been struck while parked at the high school. The vehicle had a reported $200 damage to a tail light. The other vehicle involved had left before Payan noticed the damage. The officer is investigating.
Wednesday, March 29: At 649 am an anonymous caller advised they had tied a stray dog to a tree at a residence in the 500 block of N. Oak St and that the dog needed to be picked up. The officer placed the male German shepherd in the animal holding facility. At 7:31 am a complainant reported an attempted burglary at Jerry’s Auto and More on E. Lincoln Way. Someone had attempted to gain entry into a door of the business. Entry was not made, but damage to the door had occurred. At 12:22 pm officers investigated a backing accident in the parking lot at A & W Family Restaurant. Annette Russell of Grand Junction was inside the business and witnessed a vehicle back into her 2015 Jeep Cherokee and leave the area. The Russell vehicle had minor damages, estimated at $500 to repair. Russell provided the officer with a plate number for the other vehicle. The officer made contact with Norman Wolfe of Stuart. Wolfe advised he had been present at the location with his 1996 Dodge Dakota. He advised his vehicle received no damage and he did not check the other vehicle due to the rain. The officer collected his information for the accident report. No citation was issued as it occurred of private property. At 2:44 pm a caller provided an officer with information that a male from Waukee is bragging about coming to Jefferson and having sex with a 13-year-old female. The officer is working to gather more information and attempting to investigate the report. At 4:15 pm officers investigated a two vehicle property damage accident in the 100 block of S. Vine St. A 2014 Freightliner, owned by Aramark Services and operated by Steven Woodruff of Fort Dodge was parked on the street. Woodruff exited the vehicle and it rolled forward into a legally parked 2013 Kia Soul owned by Mindy Ford of Jefferson. The Ford vehicle had a reported $400 in damages to the rear bumper. The Freightliner had no reported damage.
Tuesday, March 28: At 6:12 pm a complainant reported a burglary occurring to her vehicle in the 100 block of E. Park St. An electronic device had been removed from the unlocked vehicle.
Monday, March 27: At 10:32 am an officer started an investigation of a hit and run accident in the 200 block of N. Elm St. Grace Geisler of Churdan was southbound in the outside lane in 200 block of S. Elm driving a 2003 Chevrolet Impala owned by Heidi Geisler. She reported a grey car southbound in the inside turned into her lane, striking the front left corner of her vehicle. The gray vehicle continued across the traffic lanes and turned west into the 300 block of W. State St. The officer located gray paint transfer on the Geisler vehicle. The officer estimated $1,000 in damages to the Geisler vehicle. The investigation continues. At 11:44 city of Jefferson public works employees reported the theft of a water metering device from a house in the 300 block of W. Reed St. The missing city-owned device is valued at $110. The officer is investigating. At 2 pm an officer began a burglary investigation at a residence in the 100 block of S. Walnut St. Occupants advised that on the previous day someone entered the locked property and removed property. The officer located and removed evidence from the residence and is still investigating. At 4:23 pm a complainant reported a known subject had withdrawn money from his bank account without his permission. The officer is investigating. At 8:27 pm during a traffic stop at W. State and N. Olive St an officer learned there were several outstanding Greene County arrest warrants for the female passenger. The officer arrested Raquel June Strennen, 32, of Jefferson on three warrants for failure to appear on traffic citations*. At 11:06 pm an officer performed a traffic stop of a vehicle in the 500 block of W. Adams St. and learned there was an outstanding warrant for the driver. The officer arrested Derek Eugene Ott, 35, of Jefferson on a Greene County warrant for burglary*.
Sunday, March 26: At 3:57 am security staff at the Wild Rose Casino requested an officer for a subject getting into vehicles in the parking lot. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Chantelle Lee Wolf, 33, of Rhodes for two counts of attempted burglary- third degree (serious misdemeanor)*.
Saturday, March 25: At 10:19 pm after witnessing a vehicle failing to stop at the posted stop sign at W. Lincoln Way and Grimmell Rd, an officer performed a traffic stop in the 900 block of W. Madison St. While speaking with the driver, the officer detected the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The officer performed a probable cause search of the vehicle and located narcotics, narcotic related items, and cash. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Stephen Arthur Molle, 21, of Jefferson for possession of marijuana (serious misdemeanor), controlled substance violation/intent to deliver (Class D felony), and possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor)*. Molle was also cited for fail to obey stop sign.
Friday, March 24: At 4:26 pm a Greene County Community Schools bus driver brought a school bus violation report to an officer. The violation advised that a vehicle had passed a stopped school bus in the 100 block of N. Cedar St. The form provided a vehicle description and description of the driver. The officer’s investigation led to William McClure of Jefferson being cited for unlawful passing of a school bus. At 5:06 pm officers were advised by a male that his mother planned on suicide by stepping in front of a train. His mother had left the residence in her vehicle a few moments prior. Officers began searching for the female. At about 6:09 pm a Greene County deputy located the subject sitting in her vehicle near the Kirkwood Ave RR Crossing. The female was taken to ER for evaluation by a medical doctor. At 9:59 pm a complainant reported the theft of $32 from her juvenile daughter at the Webb House. The officer is investigating the claim.
Thursday, March 23: At 10:03 am the Perry PD requested assistance in locating a vehicle and subject who was involved in an assault and vehicle accident in Perry. The officer did not locate the subject in Jefferson.
Wednesday, March 22: At 9:18 am an officer investigated a backing accident in the 600 block of N. Oak St. Denise Charlson of Jefferson was backing 1999 Chevy Suburban owned by Genesis Development from a parking spot and backed into a legally parked 2004 Ford Expedition owned by Nicole Dennhardt of Jefferson. Charlson was cited for unsafe backing upon a highway. The Genesis vehicle suffered light damage, estimated at $200 to repair. The Dennhardt vehicle had a reported $2,000 in damages. At 2:13 pm an officer was flagged down by a subject in the 400 block of East Lincoln Way. The subject advised of two young juveniles who were lost and did not speak English. The officer located the two juveniles and was able to get them home to their mother. They are new to the area and the mother was unaware of the early school dismissal on Wednesdays. At 8:08 pm a Greene County sheriff’s deputy requested assistance from an officer in responding to a one vehicle property damage accident at Jordan Ave and 230th St west of Jefferson. The officer made contact with the subjects involved in the rollover accident and stood by until the deputy could arrive. The deputy handled the investigation.
Tuesday, March 21: At 1:38 pm an officer arrested Dray Rivera, 26, of Jefferson on an outstanding Greene County arrest warrant for failure to appear. The original charge was disorderly conduct. ******* An officer issued a summons to appear for disorderly conduct to Melissa Sue Smith, 41, of Jefferson and Branden Gerrick Smith, 40, of Jefferson*. The charges stemmed from an arrest of Branden Smith for driving while revoked on March 11. Both subjects were verbally yelling at pedestrians and officers during the event.
Monday, March 20: At 9:36 am a juvenile female requested to speak with an officer at the Greene County High School. The female had reported to the school, and then to the officer, that she had been assaulted by her father at a residence in the 1200 block of Rushridge Road. The officer is investigating. At 10:05 management at Kum & Go reported the theft of a sign from the restroom there. Management provided the officer footage from surveillance cameras, showing a suspect enter and leaving the restroom. The officer is investigating. At 1:48 pm Department of Human Services staff spoke with an officer after receiving a formal complaint about narcotics being used in a Jefferson residence. The officer assisted them with the sharing of information. At 2:10 pm a complainant reported witnessing several law enforcement vehicles running stop signs in the area of the elementary school in the 400 block of W. Russell St. At 9:22 pm a complainant reported a criminal mischief occurring at a residence in the 200 block of Hill Rose Lane. Unknown subjects had placed piles of dry concrete behind the tires of her son’s vehicle. The officer is investigating.

Saturday, March 18: At 8:43 pm a complainant reported she had been assaulted by her boyfriend at a residence in the 400 block of E. State St. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Michael Eugene Hamilton, 39, of Jefferson for domestic abuse assault- third or subsequent offense (Class D felony)*.
Friday, March 17: At 9:09 pm an officer investigated a backing accident at a residence in the 100 block of Hardin Road. Keli Luther of Dana backed her 2009 Chevrolet Impala into a parked 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt owned by Cassandra Brown. Luther was cited for unsafe backing upon a highway. Both vehicles suffered minor damage.

Wednesday, March 15: At 11:32 am management with Casey’s General Store reported receiving fraudulent checks at both locations in Jefferson. An officer is investigating the incident. At 5 pm a complainant reported to an officer she had sustained damage to the front of her 2012 Cadillac Escalade sometime during the day. She was unaware of where it may have occurred. The damage was estimated at $1,000. At 10:46 pm while on routine patrol an officer located three juveniles in the 300 block of E. Park St. They officer spoke with them about the Jefferson city ordinance regarding curfew, which was at 10:30.

Monday, March 13: At 7:46 am an officer investigated a two vehicle property damage accident at Grimmell Road and Wall St. A 2012 Chevrolet Silverado, owned by Mike Dennhardt of Rippey and operated by Jerry Dennhardt of Jefferson, was eastbound and had stopped at the posted stop sign on W. Wall St. Dennhardt did not see oncoming traffic and left the stop sign, entering onto Grimmell Rd. A 2004 Ford F250, owned by Douglas Meinecke and operated by Garrett Meinecke of Jefferson, was northbound on Grimmell Rd and was struck by the Dennhardt vehicle as he passed through the intersection. The Dennhardt vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole, damaging the pole. Both vehicles had disabling damages estimated at $10,000 each to repair. The utility pole had an estimated $1,000 in damage, as it will be replaced. Dennhardt was cited for fail to yield to vehicle on right. ******* Officers issued seven citations during the snow event for parking – snow ordinance violation.”
Sunday, March 12: ******* Lab results came back on a urine analysis collection kit collected after a traffic stop on Feb 26. During the stop, officers could smell the pungent odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The officer invoked implied consent during the event and requested the urine specimen for testing. Lab results showed the presence of marijuana in the driver’s urine. An arrest warrant has been requested for Logan Wayne Grazier, 20, of Cedar Falls for OWI- first offense (serious misdemeanor)*. ******* Lab results came back on suspected narcotic items removed from a vehicle during a traffic stop performed on March 2. The officer has requested arrest warrants for the driver and a passenger of the vehicle. Warrants are requested for Jamie Ray Alvarado, 22, of Jefferson for possession of marijuana – second offense (serious) and possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor)*. Warrants have also been requested for Jacob Thomas Monthei, 18, of Jefferson for possession of marijuana- second offense (serious misdemeanor)* and possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor)*. ******* Lab results have been received on suspected narcotic items removed from a vehicle during a traffic stop on March 1. The items tested positive for marijuana. Arrest warrants have been requested for Conner Laine Groves, 19, of Jefferson for possession of marijuana (serious misdemeanor) and possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor)*.
Saturday, March 11: At 1:04 am a traffic stop was performed with a vehicle at W. Lincoln Way and Elm St, after the officer witnessed the vehicle fishtailing down the street. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Terry Lee Romick, 22, of Pine City, MN, for operating while intoxicated- first offense (serious misdemeanor) and failure to have a driver’s license (simple misdemeanor)*. At 7:48 am Hy-Vee employees advised that a female who had stolen items from the business in the past was just confronted again in the store. The female was confronted by staff and handed over the items she was attempting to remove from the store without paying for. The officer is investigating to two separate events. At 3:50 pm a traffic stop in the 300 block of E. Lincoln Way resulted in the arrest of Branden Gerrick Smith, 40, of Jefferson for driving while revoked (simple misdemeanor)*.
Friday, March 10: At 12:02 pm a caller advised of a loose dog in the 900 block of E. Lincoln Way. The officer did not locate the animal. At 2:41 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief to a mailbox in the 300 block of Rushview Drive. The mailbox had been knocked of the post and destroyed. At 6:34 pm a caller advised that her vehicle was parked in the street and would not start. She knew it was going to snow and wanted to advise the officer of her car sitting on the street. Officers assisted her with pushing the car off of the street until repairs can be made to the vehicle. At 11:06 pm a caller advised of a vehicle swerving all over the road heading into Jefferson from the east on County Road E-53. The officer followed the vehicle for a short time and performed a traffic stop on the vehicle. The officer contacted the young driver, who explained his windows were fogging up in the vehicle. The officer sent the male home and contacted a parent about the issue. At 11:39 pm a complainant called and advised of a female in the 100 block of N. Wilson who appeared to be intoxicated and attempting to get into his vehicle. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Kathleen Ann Specht, 59 of Jefferson for public intoxication- third or subsequent offense (aggravated misdemeanor)*.
Thursday, March 9: At 6:38 pm a complainant requested officers at a residence in the 100 block of E. Washington St for issues with an adult daughter living there. The officers mediated the issue. While in the residence, an officer located a metal smoking device in plain sight on a coffee table. The item was taken into evidence and will be lab tested for the presence of marijuana. Charges are pending lab results. At 7:11 pm Mary Schneider reported she had struck a deer south of Jefferson on Highway 4. She advised the deer was still alive and on the roadway. The officer dispatched the deer and removed it from the roadway. ******* A request has been made by an officer for an arrest warrant for Aaron Joseph Skalla, 26, of Jefferson for assault causing bodily injury (serious misdemeanor)*. The request for the warrant comes after the officer investigated a complaint of an assault March 4. ******** The investigation into empty deposit envelopes being placed into the ATM and cash removed from the account at Peoples Bank is now complete. The bank reported the three thefts to an officer on March 8. Arrest warrants have been requested for Derek Eugene Ott, 35, of Jefferson for theft- third degree (aggravated misdemeanor)*. Ott allegedly received $500 cash from the ATM on three occasions after placing an empty envelope in the ATM during deposits.
Wednesday, March 8: At 10:15 am staff at Peoples Trust & Savings Bank reported three separate thefts that occurred on Jan. 4, 6, and 7. In each event, a subject put an empty deposit envelope into the ATM and then withdrew cash from his account. The total amount of all three events received was $500. The officer is investigating and charges are pending at this time.
Tuesday, March 7: At 9:54 am a complainant reported the theft of prescription medications from a residence in the 600 block of S. Cedar St. At 2:38 pm officers were advised of a male yelling and kicking at the front door of a residence in the 100 block of E. Monroe St. As officers approached the residence and began speaking with the male, he fled on a bicycle. Officers gave chase and caught up to the male in the 100 block of S. Wilson. Officers arrested Steven Logan Dzuris, 30, of Jefferson for interference with official acts and disorderly conduct both simple misdemeanors*. At 7:53 pm officers were advised of an intoxicated male leaving Hy-Vee on foot. The officer made contact with the male subject walking in the 400 block of N. Chestnut St. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Michael Allen Olson, 55, of Jefferson for public intoxication (simple misdemeanor)*. Olson became combative and non-compliant during the event. Olson caused damage to the officer’s vehicle as he was being transported to the LEC. The officer added charges of criminal mischief- second degree (Class D felony) and interference with official acts (simple misdemeanor)*.
Monday, March 6: At 9:54 am a complainant reported a criminal mischief to her vehicle in the 900 block of W. State St. Someone had spread lotion on her windshield. At 2:12 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief to a window at her residence in the 500 block of S. Maple St. At 6:13 pm a complainant reported a burglary at a residence in the 200 block of N. Locust St. Play Station games and tools were removed from the residence. The officer is investigating.
Sunday, March 5: At 12:57 pm a complainant reported persons in a car throwing fireworks into her yard in the 200 block of Hill Rose Lane. The officer made contact with two juveniles and warned them to end the pranks before they are criminally charged. At 5:42 pm a caller requested a welfare check on an animal at a residence in the 300 block of E. Vest St. The officer spoke with the owners of the animal.
Saturday, March 4: At 5:36 am a complainant met an officer at the LEC and reported she had been assaulted by a known male at a residence in the 500 block of S. Maple St. The officer is investigating. At 8:32 am a complainant reported she had been assaulted by a known male at a residence in the 300 block of N. Oak St. The officer is investigating. At 2:29 pm a complainant advised of a dog running freely in the area of the 500 block of E. Garfield St. The officer spoke to the animal’s owner. At 7:45 pm officers arrested Nastassia Chanel Goff, 32, of Jefferson. Goff had outstanding Jefferson police department arrest warrants for interference with official acts (simple misdemeanor) and obstructing prosecution of defense (aggravated misdemeanor)*. The charges stem from an assault investigation from Jan. 27 at a residence in the 700 block of W. Mahlon St. Goff allegedly lied to officers about the events of that evening and removed evidence from the scene.
Friday, March 3: At 11:18 am an officer arrested Michael Jason Godwin on an active Dallas County arrest warrant for probation violation. At 3:11 pm a complainant reported numerous vehicles running the posted stop sign at S. Cedar and E. Russell St. At 3:42 an officer investigated a reported theft of services at a residence in the 700 block of W. Mahlon St. The water service had been shut off at the residence, but water workers noticed it had been turned back on by the tenant. Charges are pending at this time.
Thursday, March 2: At 7:11 am an officer investigated a two vehicle property damage accident at W. Lincoln Way and Grimmell Road. Ashley Witte of Jefferson was northbound on Grimmell Rd. Wilma Bender of Jefferson was westbound on Lincoln Way. Witte and Bender both stopped as posted. Bender left the stop sign without yielding to Witte and their vehicles collided in the intersection. Bender was cited for failure to yield upon entering a roadway. Damage to the front end of her 2001 Ford Fusion was estimated at $2,000. Damage to the right rear of Witte’s 2013 Subaru Legacy was estimated at $1,000. At 1:27 pm officers investigated a two vehicle personal injury accident at E. Washington and N. Locust St. Richard Smith of Jefferson was westbound on Washington. As he passed through the intersection at Locust St his vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by a vehicle driven by Dorena Wilson of Jefferson. Wilson failed to yield as posted. Greene County Emergency Medical Services transported to subjects to ER for further evaluation of possible injuries. Wilson was cited for failure to yield to the vehicle on the right. Damage to her 2013 Chevrolet Traverse was estimated at $4,000. Damage to Smith’s 2009 Cadillac DTS was also estimated at $4,000. At 3:40 pm an officer performed a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 100 block of S. Wilson. The officer’s investigation led the arrest of Jamie Ray Alvarado, 22, of Grand Junction for driving while license barred (aggravated misdemeanor)*. He was also cited for fraudulent use of registration, failure to provide proof of financial liability, and failure to wear a seat belt. The vehicle was towed to the impound lot from the arrest scene. Suspected narcotics were located during an inventory of the vehicle by officers. Alvarado and a passenger may face future charges after the items are lab tested. At 5:17 pm a student at Greene County High School spoke with an officer at the LEC about his vehicle being struck in the student parking lot at the school. The student provided the officer with a suspect. The officer is investigating the reported event. At 6:28 pm a complainant requested officers at a residence in the 100 block of E. Central Ave. When officers arrived they learned a male subject had forced open the door and had assaulted a female. The officer arrested Jackson Devon Walsh, 21, of Ankeny on charges of criminal mischief- fifth degree and assault- simple (both simple misdemeanors)*. At 6:46 pm officers were called to Kum & Go for a shoplifting complaint. Officer made contact with the female suspect outside the business. The officers’ investigated led to the arrest of Brenda Renee Thompson, 39, of Perry for theft- fifth degree (simple misdemeanor)*. She was also cited for driving while suspended as she had driven to the business.
Wednesday, March 1: At 1:44 am a complainant reported her purse had been stolen out of her vehicle at Kum & Go earlier that night. She later advised her debit card had been used a few minutes later at Sparky’s One Stop. The card was also reported to have been used in Osceola as well. The officer is working to obtain video footage from the businesses to develop a suspect. At 12:47 pm a complainant reported a vehicle approaching Jefferson from the east on County Road E-53 that was all over the road. The vehicle was crossing the centerline and nearly struck a bridge. The officer stopped the vehicle in the 600 block of E. Lincoln Way and made contact with a female driver. As the officer was investigating the event, a smoking device was located in a driver’s door panel, which contained burnt residue. The officer determined the female was having a medical issue and EMS was called. Future charges are pending after testing of the smoking device is performed. At 4:32 pm the Sacramento, CA, county attorney requested assistance from a Jefferson police officer in locating subjects involved in a 2-year-old case there who may be living in Jefferson. The officer did not locate the subjects.
